Beltway 8 deadly crash: 18-wheeler wanted in hit-and-run, police say

Houston police are searching for an 18-wheeler suspected of being involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Friday in which one person was killed.

The white 18-wheeler tractor truck of unknown make or model believed to be involved was seen on video released by Houston police.

The backstory:

Houston police report several vehicles were stopped at a red light at 11400 South Sam Houston Parkway East service road and Sabo Road intersection around 7:10 p.m. on Friday.

The suspected 18-wheeler hit the back of a silver Chevrolet Cavalier and kept going, hitting a black Lexus RX350, a white Chevrolet Tahoe, a blue Ford Crown Victoria and a Toyota of unknown model, according to Houston police.

This led to multiple crashes and the driver in the 18-wheeler left the scene without rendering aid. The Toyota also left the scene without providing information.

Houstoin Fire Department paramedics arrived to the scene and pronounced 44-year-old Francisco Medillin dead at the scene. A 9-year-old boy was also in the Cavalier and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman driving the Lexus was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Those in the other vehicles were also taken by paramedics to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
