Galveston police began investigating this case last Sunday and it didn't take them long to find the person they say is responsible, 32-year-old Odis Demond Jenkins.

"Officers were dispatched to a robbery call on the island," said Galveston PIO officer Michael Gray. "When they arrived they were told by the victim that they were kidnapped they were taken and sexually assaulted."

The victim who police won't identify as male or female was abducted while using the ATM on the campus of Galveston college.

Police say Jenkins took the victim to an undisclosed location on the island to commit the sexual attack.

It's not known how the victim got away but police say Jenkins and the victim did not know each other.

Jenkins is currently charged with aggravated robbery aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.

He remains jailed in lieu of bonds totally 450 thousand dollars.

Police won't say if the victim was a student at Galveston College.

Staff and students alike were made aware of the attack.

Police say this crime should remind people to be on their guard when using ATMs.

"Try to be in a well lit place try to be with someone if you go to an ATM at night," said Gray. "In general be aware of your surroundings."

Police tell us they've had no similar sex attacks on the island recently but say they will be investigating to see if Jenkins is responsible for any other crimes.
