The thefts of two vehicles led to a pursuit by deputy constables and damage to several vehicles and two homes in northwest Harris County.

After a deputy constable observed a pickup truck that had been reported stolen on Tuesday, he tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop.

The deputy was not able to catch up to the truck after he slowed the patrol car at a red traffic light. He watched as several people stood outside a home and pointed at where the truck crashed into a garage at a home on Pebble Lake Drive near Meadow Village Drive.

The truck damaged two parked vehicles that were in the garage and caused it to catch fire. Cy-Fair Volunteer firefighters were to put out the flames before it spread to the damaged home. No one at the home was injured.

The suspect who had driven the stolen truck then ran to another home on Sunny Ridge Drive near Meadow Village Drive and drove away in a red Toyota RAV4. When the resident of that home reported the RAV4 as stolen, a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter found it and guided ground units to its location.

The pursuit of the suspect came to an end on Lasting Light Lane near Shadow Edge Circle when the RAV4 rammed into the front of a Pct. 5 patrol car. Deputy constables took the suspect into custody.

The Pct. 5 deputy constable who was in the struck patrol car struck was taken to a hospital for apparent minor injuries.
