Two killed in northwest Houston rollover crash, causes major power outages
Police say a vehicle was speeding on Highway 6 when it left the road and crashed into a utility pole.
HOUSTON - Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed two people and left a large area of Northwest Houston without power early Sunday morning.
The crash
What we know:
Houston Police say just before 2:30 a.m. a Toyota RAV4 was going southbound on Hwy. 6 near Pine Forest Lane at a high rate of speed when it left the road and crashed into a utility pole.
The vehicle flipped multiple times, hitting trees and landing upside down.
A female in the vehicle was ejected and died at the scene.
A male had to be extracted from the vehicle and also died at the scene.
The crash is being investigated.
What we don't know:
It is not known if the male or the female was driving.
Their identities have not been released.
Power Outage
What we know:
The crash into the utility pole caused a power outage from Patterson to the Pine Forest area.
At 10:57 a.m., CenterPoint Energy is reporting power to be restored to around 150 customers around 3:30 p.m.
A crew is working on the outage.
