1 person killed after sand dune collapse in north Harris County

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - One person is dead after a sand dune collapsed in north Harris County.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, authorities were called to 4129 Spring Creek Dr. around 7:30 p.m., where a father and his daughter were said to have been building a fort out of sand when it collapsed. The daughter ran for help. 

A 911 caller advised a male buried in sand, and all they could see were his feet. Reports say that with the recent flooding, there sand dunes, similar to that of a cave, in the area. That is what is said to have collapsed. 

The father was confirmed dead at the scene. His daughter was unhurt.
