HOUSTON (FOX 26) - September 11 is commemorated as a day of service.
Cemeteries across the country will be carrying that spirit with the help of Carry The Load, a non-profit organization that provides active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made daily by our nation’s military, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Forty national cemeteries will be participating in the volunteer event, including the Houston National Cemetery.
Carry The Load is partnering with the Houston National Cemetery to offer volunteers an opportunity to be of service to our country, by helping beautify the grounds of the cemetery and clean headstones.
A hundred volunteers are expected in Houston, and 2,000 volunteers are expected nationwide.
Carry The Load ambassador Jesse Dunlap stopped by Houston's Morning Show to talk about the campaign.
