We have two main weather issues we are focusing on today.... the dangerous heat building and the threat for a few severe storms tonight. There are still thousands across SE Texas still without power from last Thursday's deadly storms and the heat is creating dangerous conditions. Look for the possibility of a few strong to severe storms making it into our northern counties tonight before weakening. Chance is low but strong winds and hail will be main threats along with a few heavy downpours. Best chance will be The Woodlands and areas north through midnight. We then transition to hot, steamy and mostly dry weather heading into the holiday weekend. Rain chances Thursday - Monday will only be around 10% but the heat will be building. Look for temperatures to soar to the middle to upper 90s this weekend with heat index values of 105+ by Sunday. That means a Heat Advisory could be right around the corner for the Houston area. So drink lots of water, take breaks and try to find a cooling center if you are still without power. Tornadoes ripped through parts of the Mid-West on Tuesday leaving three people dead and destruction in communities. FOX's Mills Hayes is in Iowa with a look at the tragic aftermath.

Highest rain chances will come late on Wednesday evening as storms from north Texas will slide south, falling apart before reaching Houston. There is some smoky air over the Gulf of Mexico that will make skies hazy over the next few days as well. Our bodies are not ready from this much heat so early in the season, so use caution with activities outdoors. Be safe in the heat!

First on FOX, Houston barber shop was hit pretty hard by last week's deadly severe weather. Even without power and a portion of the rough missing, the barbershop is doing what it takes to get back to business. FOX 26 anchor Anthony Antoine visited the shop to get a fresh haircut for himself and speak to the owner.

When the power will be back on is a top concern for so many Houstonians, nearly a week after the storm blew through the area. FOX 26's Sherman Desselle visited the Heights area and spoke with residents who shared how they have been faring with the outages.

Houston Texans Safety Jalen Pitre lets the public know Kids' Meals is asking for food donations following the recent severe storm which caused widespread power outages for many places, including the non-profit whose food supply spoiled as a result.

Residents in Waller County feel like they have been forgotten after a tornado hit the area. FOX 26's Jonathan Mejia spoke with a family who are still without water and power days later.

More than 120,000 CenterPoint customers are still without power and FOX 26 Political Reporter Greg Groogan has the latest as the relief effort is ongoing from different levels of government.

The afternoon highs will be in the 90s but the heat index values will be at 100 or higher.
