It is still a FOX 26 STORM ALERT DAY through late tonight as a few more rounds of storms are still possible across the Houston area. Look for a few strong storms this evening through about 9 pm. Another line of strong storms is possible overnight from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. as a cold front pushes through. The main threats with these storms would be marginally severe hail near 1" and a brief strong wind gust near 50-60 mph. Heavy rain could lead to a few more flooded streets across the Houston area so be careful and avoid flooded roads if possible. A cold front will bring in some drier air just in time for your weekend plans. Comfortable and quiet weather is expected this weekend with high temperatures in the 70s and overnight lows in the 50s. Another round of storms and heavy rain will likely impact the area for the return to work on Monday. Storms will be on the increase throughout the morning with the national weather service issuing a severe thunderstorm watch through 1 PM for areas south of Harris County. The watch means that conditions are favorable for storms that could produce hail or damaging wins, in addition to heavy rain and lots of lightning. Today?s rain chance is 100% with everybody likely to get rain even areas north of Houston with some spotty, strong thunderstorms. It may start to calm down a little bit by this evening and after midnight tonight with the final front passing through, we should transition to nice weather for Friday and the weekend.

Thursday will be a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. On Thursday, plan on a few rounds of storms that could be strong to severe along with heavy downpours that could lead to a few flooding issues. I expect a few showers tonight with isolated strong storms possible after 3 a.m. Thursday morning. But look for widespread rain and strong storms late Thursday morning through the afternoon. I think this is when the heaviest rain will fall. Models are showing another round of showers and storms late Thursday night from around 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. Friday. Then we should dry things out for a pleasant and drier weekend. Look for another decent chance for showers and storms returning on Monday. Rain is on the way to Southeast Texas but Wednesday should be mostly dry. Look for a late day shower as rain starts to move into Houston overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Most of Thursday will be a washout with several rounds of rain. Severe weather chances are low but there could be some strong winds and hail possible. Rain should end early Friday followed by a quiet but somewhat breezy pattern this weekend.

Today is the last day of winter with Spring officially beginning tonight at 10:06 p.m. Chilly air this morning will give way to a very nice, dry afternoon. However, more rain is on the way with a few drizzles tomorrow, then a round of widespread showers and storms on Thursday - looking like a washout. Rain should end early Friday followed by a nice pattern into the weekend.

Spring arrives on Tuesday and it will start off CHILLY for Houston. High temperatures in the afternoon should keep below 70 but the morning starts in the 40s. Rain chances return to the forecast Wednesday night but most of the rain arrives on Thursday. This round of precipitation should be more showers than storms, but don't be surprised if there is some thunder and lightning. The weekend looks quiet with another round of showers and storms returning for the start of next week.
