Friday will bring sunny and nice weather ahead of the warmer temperatures arriving next week. Our latest cold front has moved east making way for sunshine and warmer weather. Southeast Texas can expect clearing skies today with highs in the upper-60s to near 70 degrees.

Expect dry, clear and comfortable weather to return Friday through the weekend. Highs on Friday will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. Look for loads of sunshine Saturday, with high temperatures in Houston in the low 70s. Sunday is Groundhog Day and Houston will see plentiful sunshine with highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. There is the chance for heavy rain, damaging wind gusts, hail and a brief isolated tornado. A line of storms will move into the northwestern viewing area late morning and clear off the coast by 7 p.m.

Expect at least scattered storms and possibly a line of strong to severe storms including the slight chance for a tornado or damaging winds 60 mph+. We'll get noticeably warmer Wednesday as a more humid south breeze returns - that will set the stage for scattered storms that could begin in the afternoon and will reach their peak by Thursday as a cold front pushes through Southeast Texas. The timing for the stronger storms will be in the late afternoon and a few could be severe with the potential for hail and gusty winds. Some rain could linger through early Friday, but our forecast looks great after that. This weekend will bring brisk nights with sunny, mild days and next week's temps should run well above average.
