Christmas Day started very wet but ended pleasant, but it will be a short break. Thursday is a FOX26 Storm Alert Day with another weak front increasing rain chances in the afternoon. Some of those storms could produce hail and damaging winds and even a slight chance for a tornado. It will be another day to stay weather aware. The rest of 2024 looks mild. Temperatures will be warmer than average for the last week of the year. Cooler days return with the start of the new year.

Merry Christmas! I hope you were able to get some sleep with all the strong thunderstorms overnight. I'm glad to say that today will be much calmer with a few showers, but a few peeks of sun and pleasant temps. Now for tomorrow to Thursday is another FOX 26 Storm Alert Day as another round of storms are expected by the afternoon that could produce hail and high winds and even a slight chance for a tornado. We'll watch it closely, but just stay weather aware tomorrow. Beyond that, it looks cooler as we head into the new year with lows back in the 40s by New Year's Day.

Storms are on the way and the timing is not good, but could be worse. A line of strong storms is likely overnight tonight with the highest chances between about 10pm and 5am, so many of you might just sleep through the worst of it. However, if you are going to a late night service or even a midnight candlelight service tonight, sneak a look at your FOX 26 weather app to check on the progress of the storms because it's going to be a close call. In the meantime, look for a breezy and mild Christmas Eve with scattered storms this afternoon. For Christmas Day, after the morning rain, we'll gradually clear and end up with a decent day. For the rest of 2024, temperatures will remain above average with off and on rain through Saturday.

Merry early Christmas and Happy Festivus - our airing of grievances will begin with the chance for stormy weather late tomorrow for Christmas Eve late afternoon through the overnight hours. Today will be a transition day with increasing winds and milder air. A few quick showers are possible, but the highest rain chance will occur late Tuesday through early Christmas morning. Weather should improve by noontime on Christmas day. Intermittent scattered storms could return for Thursday and Friday. Overall, temperatures will stay above normal through the end of the year.

The last several days have been cool in southeast Texas but look for a pattern change starting Sunday night. Warmer air returns to Houston and showers/storms are expected for Christmas Eve. The rain should take a short break for Christmas Day but the mild temperatures remain in place all week. Another round of showers will be possible to end the week. The long-term outlook does show warm weather staying in place through the end of the year.

Look for another cold morning tomorrow across southeast Texas. The afternoon high temperatures on Sunday will be a few degrees warmer than Saturday. Houston rebounds back into the 70s on Monday with increased clouds and humidity as well. More mild temperatures and increased rain chances for Christmas Eve. The rain should push through quickly but could still have a shower around briefly for Christmas morning. After a pleasant afternoon on Christmas day, look for more rain to end the 2024 year.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. After a round of hazardous fog this morning, today will be warm again. Temperatures will get close to the record high of 82? and there is a chance for a couple of afternoon showers or storms. Wednesday will bring a cold front and a broken line of storms followed by much cooler and drier air. Expect chilly mornings and cool, dry days from Tuesday through Sunday. It's possible there may be a few frosty spots on Saturday and Sunday mornings for areas north of Houston. So far, Christmas looks mild/warm with likely temps in the 70s. A south breeze should return by then along with higher humidity.
