HOUSTON - The Houston Texans have decided on Brian Gaine, Buffalo Bills vice president of player personnel, to become their next general manager.
The next step is to complete a contract for Gaine, and the two sides are in negotiations to get that done.
Texans management would like a deal in place before the coaching staff leaves for the week of the Senior Bowl which is Jan. 21-27.
Gaine, who worked for the Texans for three years as director of pro personnel and director of player personnel from 2014-16, interviewed Tuesday with team officials for the job.
Meanwhile, the Texans have already started the process to extend head coach Bill O'Brien's contract.
He has one year left on his deal with the Texans.
