Northeastern's Dustin Hunt reaches contract agreement with Astros

Northeastern University right-handed pitcher Dustin Hunt, taken in the 10th round of the MLB First-Year Players Draft by the Astros, told FOX 26 Sports he has reached a contract agreement with the team.

“I haven’t signed the contract yet, but I’m going to sign,” Hunt said. “It was awesome. It was pretty emotional. I was with my whole family. Everyone I would say was pretty relieved. It was a pretty long day and everyone was getting anxious.

“When the Astros came in and took me, everyone was really happy for me. Just to have everything set, knowing that I’m going to play professionally now, it was a pretty awesome feeling.”

In 2016 with Northeastern Hunt started 14 games, finishing with a 6-3 record and a 2.72 ERA.

“Talking to the Astros, toward the end there when they told me they were going to take me, (it was) probably the best feeling I've ever had,” Hunt said.”
