J.J. Watt has back surgery, expected back for opener

Houston Texas superstar J.J. Watt will open training camp on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing back surgery, but should be ready for the regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears at NRG Stadium.

Watt has never missed a regular season game, and although he had back surgery, that streak is expected to stay intact.

Watt can be activated from PUP at any time.

Watt has won back-to-back NFL Defensive Player of the Year Awards, and he has won the award three times in the last four years.

Watt and Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor are the only players to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times.
