PITTSBURGH (FOX 26) - Former Rice kicker Chris Boswell is getting his NFL career off to a good start.
The Steelers placekicker was named Wednesday as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. On Sunday, Boswell nailed all four of his field goal attempts, three from beyond 45 yards, including one from 51 yards away. He also converted his only extra-point attempt.
Boswell has bounced around different teams, including the Texans, after graduating from Rice in 2014. He finally got his real NFL shot with the Steelers earlier this month when Pittsburgh made a move to replace Josh Scobee. Boswell has not missed since signing with the Steelers.
When Boswell was at Rice, he finished just two points off the school's career scoring record. He also converted 14 kicks of 50 yards or more, including three from at least 55 yards away.
