Woman who lost her child in house fire hosting free fire prevention event

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - About 84 percent of fires in America are house fires and 64 percent are started by children ages six and under.

Alicia Carter lost her 3-year-old son in a house fire, and since then, she's written a book to help children recognize items that can potentially start a fire if touched or used improperly.

This weekend, she is hosting a free event to bring fire prevention awareness to the parents and kids in the community.
