Woman sues gym after employees ignore man filming her in the shower
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - She describes it as a sickening feeling.
Maria Pelayo is suing 24 Hour Fitness Gym.
"I looked and I saw a hand with the camera under the shower stall. It was just an extremely weird feeling," said Pelayo.
Pelayo says she was showering after a workout at 24 Hour Fitness gym on Dunstan at Kirby in Rice Village when she says she caught something out of the corner of her eye, a man's hand holding a cell phone, appearing to be recording video of her.
"I shouted to him and I stuck my head out and I saw him run away," she said.
"They failed her," says her attorney, Ciro Samperi. "She was brushed off by employees. She was even told incidents like this happen all the time."
Neither employees nor manager did anything to look for the perpetrator. So, Pelayo has filed a lawsuit against the gym.
She says this happened in September, and she believes the man appeared to be dressed as a gym employee.
Her attorney claims his client isn't the first woman to make such accustions against 24 Hour Fitness.
Dating back many years, 24 Hour Fitness has had similar complaints from other female members," said Samperi.
