Two dead after vehicle crashes on Westheimer Road near The Galleria mall

The Houston Police Department is investigating a deadly crash at a Galleria mall parking garage on Thursday morning.

Houston Westheimer Road crash

What we know:

According to Assistant Chief Adrian Rodriguez, officers received calls about a major crash around 5:45 a.m. at 5065 Westheimer Road.

A vehicle was going eastbound, says Rodriguez, and it appeared to have hit a sign and crashed into a wall.

According to an update, officers tried to chase down a similar vehicle minutes before this crash.

Police say a white Jaguar almost struck a patrol vehicle while going west on Westheimer by Winrock Boulevard. Officers did a U-turn and turned on their lights and sirens "with the intent of stopping the Jaguar on a traffic stop," but they stopped since they couldn't catch up to the vehicle.

The vehicle that crashed is described as a white Jaguar F Type S.

What we don't know:

It's not confirmed if the vehicle that officers went after is the same one involved in the crash.
