Two women have been arrested in the assault  of a woman at 10100 South Gessner about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, July 10th.

The suspects, 27-year-old Jasmine Thomas  and 46-year-old Regina Banks, are both charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 208th State District Court.

The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.

HPD patrol officers responded to the attack at the above address and found HFD paramedics providing medical assistance to the victim.  After initial investigation, it was determined she had been struck with a hammer.  The woman was then transported to the hospital.

Further investigation determined two female suspects Banks and Thomas got into an argument with the victim and then assaulted her.  The victim's mother witnessed the assault and, armed with a hammer, went to help her daughter.  The suspects managed to disarm the mother and struck Brooks with the hammer several times.  Both suspects were detained at the scene and subsequently charged.
