The Future is Now - Alexa in every dorm

The future is now!

It’s a future where college dorms come with Alexa. St Louis University is putting an Amazon smart device in every dorm room – 2,300 of them. They are the first school to do so in every living space. Amazon has been working to let big companies customize Alexa. So in this case, it comes pre-programed with a bunch of university-specific answers. You can ask "when does the library close?" or “what student events are coming up?” They’re all tied to a central system.

Kroger is stepping into the future. They're testing driverless grocery delivery.  A Toyota Prius shows up at your driveway, has your groceries -- but there are no humans inside. It is monitored by a person, looking at a computer screen somewhere though. They're trying this in Scottsdale.

Facebook is getting attention for something good. They raised $300 million for charity. They have a feature that lets you raise money for a cause on your birthday. Yesterday, Zuckerberg said money raised has helped some 750,000 charities—in a year! Facebook personally vets every charity before it gets approved, and personally donates $5 for every birthday fundraiser you start.
