September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month
What is sickle cell anemia? The dictionary describes it as a severe hereditary form of anemia which distorts the red blood cells into a crescent shape at low oxygen levels. The illness is almost most common in African Americans and it can leave them in severe pain. For the month highlighting the disease, the Sickle Cell Association of Houston is on the Factor to tell us more about it and the special events they have planned.
