Santa Fe student says her former boyfriend died as a hero
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - As the Houston area prepares to remember one year since ten people were killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting, several students tell us they'd rather not remember at all.
They told FOX 26 about their story of moving on after the tragedy.
This group of friends is closer than most, for reasons they hate to remember. This weekend, many of these Santa Fe high schoolers will take part in remembrance events to honor those killed at their school on May 18, 2018.
Reagan Gaona was dating football player Chris Stone, she hasn't seen him since that day. Chris died a hero, holding the door to keep the shooter from reaching classmates, a fate foreshadowed in a conversation during a false alarm lockdown several months before.
Reagan says the thing that got her through were the faces now sitting around her. Fellow friends of Chris, who will never forget him.
