POLICE: Child confirmed dead after drowning at Margaritaville resort in Conroe

Officials say a child has died after drowning at a Margaritaville resort in Conroe Friday evening.

According to Conroe PD, shortly after 3:30 p.m., officers received a call about a little girl, 6, who was found unresponsive at Margaritaville Resort on Lake Conroe. Life-saving measures were performed to no avail. As a result, the child was rushed to Texas Children's Hospital in the Woodlands, where around 5 p.m., after arriving at the emergency room, the child was pronounced dead. 

We're told the family was on vacation and visiting the resort from out of town. 

"Chief [Jeff] Christy sends his condolences to the family and other people involved in this tragic incident," Conroe PD said in a statement.

No other information was provided, as of this writing but FOX 26 Houston will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
