HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Houston Police Department says a motorcycle officer is reported to be in stable condition after a crash on the North Freeway.
Police say the officer was injured in the crash that occurred around 5:35 a.m. on the North Freeway near North Main.
"He says that a vehicle cut him off, he swerved to keep from hitting that vehicle, at which time his motorcycle then began to vibrate," Executive Asst. Chief Troy Finner says. "He did what we train them to do. He released his bike and let it slide away from him so it wouldn't impact him and cause more injuries."
The officer was taken to the hospital. Police say the officer is conscious and reported to be in stable condition.
All southbound lanes of the North Freeway are closed at North Street while police investigate the crash.
