La Porte firefighter crashes his truck into boy's bedroom
LAPORTE, TX - A La Porte firefighter in uniform is accused of crashing his pickup truck into a boy's bedroom. The firefighter was reportedly speeding, on the way to an emergency call on Tuesday night when he crashed through a steel fence and right into a young boy's bedroom on North Shady Lane in La Porte. The accident occurred at 10:45 pm last night in the 500 block of North Shady Lane.
Witnesses say the firefighter appeared to have been drinking. Luckily, the boy was not injured. The boy would have normally been sleeping in his own bedroom--but he reportedly asked his parents if he could sleep in a sibling's room last night. His parents gave him permission--and he fortunately narrowly escaped the accident.
The firefighter has been identified as Blake Andrew Stevens, and he works for the La Porte Fire Department. Stevens has now been charged with DWI and the unlawful carrying of a handgun.
