Houston crash: 2 possible suspects hit, killed on Highway 288 at Elgin
HOUSTON - Two people are dead following an auto-pedestrian crash in Houston on Thursday night, officials said.

What we know:
Houston police were called to an Old Navy store on Westheimer Road about a shoplifting suspect around 9:15 p.m.
Officers located the suspect's vehicle after getting a description and attempted to stop it at South Rice and Westpark Drive. The suspect's vehicle did not comply with a traffic stop and led officers on a chase.

The vehicle got on the Southwest Freeway going northbound and as they approached the I-45 interchange, the suspect's vehicle was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle, authorities reported.
Houston police say the suspects stopped the car and four occupants, all female, got out. They ran across the westbound lanes of the freeway and made it across the northbound lanes.
The group started to cross the southbound lanes, but two of them were hit by oncoming traffic. Police say the two females were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other females were taken into custody, police say.
What we don't know:
The ages and identities of the suspects are unknown.
