Horse from Sam Houston Trail Ride struck by vehicle

A horse from the Sam Houston Trail Ride was hit by a vehicle Thursday morning, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo confirms.

According to a statement from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, a driver inadvertently hit the horse with his vehicle and the horse had a minor abrasion. They say the horse is resting until a veterinarian can examine it.

The rider was said to be uninjured and is continuing to ride.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo released this statement:

At approximately 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, a driver inadvertently hit a horse with his vehicle at Tomball Parkway. The horse is from the Sam Houston Trail Ride, and had a minor abrasion. A veterinarian is heading to the ride location to inspect the horse. For the time being, the horse is resting until the vet can complete a full evaluation. The rider was not injured and is continuing to ride.
