Harris County crime: Deputy fires weapon at suspect fleeing from authorities, suspect apprehended

A search is underway after a shooting in East Harris County involving a deputy.

What we know:

Harris County authorities said the incident occurred in the 1000 block of Deerpass Drive in East Harris County on Friday evening. 

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said preliminary information revealed deputies met with out-of-county officers that were attempting to locate a wanted violent suspect.

Gonzalez said units made contact with the man, who fled on foot. 

That's when, according to Gonzalez, one deputy fired his weapon. 

Following a search, the suspect was located by authorities. 

Officials said the suspect was not shot by the deputy. 

Gonzalez added the suspect was allegedly involved in a murder on Friday in the San Marcos area. 

What we don't know:

Officials have not identified the suspect.
