Harris Co. judge accidentally resigns on social media, replaced by Houston attorney

A Harris County judge is out of a job Tuesday after commissioner's court voted to replace Bill McCleod in his county court at law seat.

He mistakenly resigned from office after just being elected last year. McCleod said on social media he had plans to run for the Texas State Supreme Court in the future.

Under the Texas constitution his public announcement was an automatic resignation from office.

Commissioners voted to replace him with Houston attorney Lesley Briones.
