Father drowns while trying to rescue his son at San Luis Pass

Police say a father has drowned while trying to rescue his son who was swept into the water at San Luis Pass on Tuesday. The father went in after him and tried to save his 5-year-old son. The boy managed to make it out of the water, but his father tragically did not.  Police say that the father's body has been recovered.  

The child was taken by helicopter to UTMB.  His condition is unknown at this time.  Jamaica Beach Fire and Police, in addition to Galveston police, fire, and Beach Patrol responded to the father's tragic drowning last night.
