Families take part in First Annual Dental Festival

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Families gathered in downtown Houston on Saturday to participate in the First Annual Dental Festival. The event, which was free to the public, featured free dental cleanings, exams, HIV and oral screenings and free immunizations. 

With the goal of the festival to promote wellness, other features included diabetes testing, breast cancer awareness, nutritional instruction, fitness coaching and other health-related services. 

Every child that attended the event received a backpack filled with school supplies. 

The event was made possible by Dr. KaRon Y. Wade and Freda Epka-Powell and Medi-Dent, an organization founded in 2001 that aims to reach as many children as it can each year.
