A Houston city councilman has fired one of his employees for anti-Islamic rhetoric that was caught on tape.

Houston City Councilman Michael Knox says he was left with no choice but to fire his community outreach director Trebor Gordon.

Gordon was captured on video last month at a Harris County republican meeting.

In that event, Gordon challenged the appointment of an Arab American, Syed Ali, to a precinct chair position.

Gordon said Islam doesn't have any foundation and didn't mix with Christianity. Gordon, who also serves as a minister, ran for City Council at one point.
