Celebrity chef and Northern California native Guy Fieri has again lent his culinary talents to help those affected by wildfire.

On Sunday, Fieri was in Redding, where he joined non-profit Operation BBQ Relief to help the Salvation Army feed residents chased from their homes by the devastating Carr fire in Shasta County.

Fieri set up shop at Shasta College, stood over fired up grills and helped whip up 1,400 hundred meals, according to Syd Fong, the public relations director for the Salvation Army's Del Oro division.

"The yummy lunch yesterday of pulled pork, cole slaw and rice was sure to lift the spirits of so many who are under a lot of stress right now," The Salvation Army wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.

With the food filling the stomachs of the hungry evacuees, they were also filled up with gratitude during this time of uncertainty brought on by the deadly fire.

"There was a strong appreciation for someone of his stature to help out," Fong said.

There aren't a lot of photos of Fieri cooking up the meals or much publicity surrounding the star's visit, as he was happy to feed the fire evacuees without a lot of attention.

"He knows the heart of  the community. He really just wants to help out," Fong told KTVU explaining that Fieri preferred to stay under the radar on Sunday.

If Fieri stepping up to help out fire victims sounds familiar, it should. The Santa Rosa native son carried out a similar act back in October, when he showed up in his hometown to help those affected by the North Bay fires.

"We consider Chef Fieri a friend of The Salvation Army," the charity wrote. "We are grateful to him for taking the time. It shows that he knows what's important: helping people during their time of need!"
