Carnival Liberty returns to Galveston after child suffers injury onboard

The Carnival Liberty cruise ship had to return to Galveston Monday afternoon after a child had an accident onboard.

According to Galveston EMS, a 3-year-old girl slipped on a railing, and fell 12-15 feet to the level below. She was knocked unconscious.

The ship left at 5 p.m. and returned around 7 p.m.

The girl was alert, oriented, and talking. She had a head wound and possibly broken jaw. She was transported to UTMB in stable condition by Galveston EMS.

The cruise did continue with its scheduled departure after the child was taken off the ship.
