Bayou City Buzz - moonGARDEN
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - moonGARDEN, a creation by Lucion Traveling Light of Montreal, is a series of 22 illuminated spheres that transform Discovery Green and the Avenida Houston plaza into a "magical moonscape."
With orbs ranging in size from six to 30 feet in diameter, moonGARDEN includes eleven shadow “theaters” and interactive works. moonGARDEN is free to the public and activated each night from 6 p.m. until 12 a.m.
Discovery Green will hosts a pajama party for the City of Houston at “Goodnight, Moon,” a family-friendly event at moonGARDEN on Friday, Oct. 5 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.. Milk and cookies will be served and celebrity readers will share the beloved children’s book in the languages of Houston. The Houston Astronomical Society will offer telescopes for stargazing.
moonGARDEN visitors will have special food and beverage options as a moonGARDEN Lounge presented by IKEA Houston will be set up on the Jones Lawn throughout the 10 days of the exhibition.
The Lake House at Discovery Green will operate an outdoor café serving beer, wine and soft drinks on from Oct. 4 until Oct. 7 from noon until 10 p.m. The Grove will extend happy hour from through Saturday until regular closing hours each night. The Grove will also feature artisanal Moon Pies, and cocktails made with, of course, moonshine.
