Amber Alert issued in Virginia for 12-year-old girl, grandmother; suspect apprehended
HARRISONBURG, Va. - An Amber Alert has been issued in Virginia for a 12-year-old girl believed to have been abducted along with her grandmother in Harrisonburg, Virginia on Sunday afternoon.
Virginia State Police are searching for 12-year-old Angie Carolina Rodriguez Rubio and her grandmother, 48-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio. Authorities say they are believed to have been abducted by Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol.
Police say the girl and grandmother are believed to be in extreme danger.
On Tuesday night, Virginia State Police said Rodriguez-Sariol was apprehended and his vehicle was found in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, but both the 12-year-old and her grandmother remain missing.
According to the Amber Alert, the missing child and grandmother were last seen with Rodriguez-Sariol near the 2800 block of South Main Street at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Harrisonburg.
Before Rodriguez-Sariol was taken into custody, authorities said they were believed to have been traveling north in a white 2000 Volvo Tractor Trailer with Virginia tag 21739PZ.
The missing 12-year-old girl is described as a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet-1-inches tall and weighs 112 pounds. She was wearing a black blouse with flowers, black leggings and white sandals.
The girl’s grandmother is described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black skirt and burgundy blouse.
According to the Amber Alert, Rodriguez-Sariol has a history of infatuation with the grandmother.
