Agents seize $1.3 million worth cocaine from spare tire
EL PASO, TX (AP) - Agents at a border crossing in West Texas have seized nearly $1.3 million worth of cocaine hidden in an SUV's spare tire.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in El Paso on Thursday announced a woman from Mexico has been detained on drug smuggling charges.
Authorities say the cocaine bust happened Wednesday afternoon during a vehicle search at the Bridge of the Americas. Investigators say a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the undercarriage of the SUV.
Officials say the spare tire yielded 15 bundles of cocaine.
