Nearly 300 animals were seized from a property in Grimes County on Wednesday.
Authorities seized 242 small dogs including Pomeranians, Min Pins and Chinese Cresteds. They also seized 49 mini horses and Shetland ponies.
The Houston Humane Society assisted the Grimes County Sheriff's Office in removing the animals.
According to the Humane Society, all of the animals showed signs of long-term neglect and many were house in rusted out caging, living in their own filth and feces. Authorities say the animals were extremely malnourished, matted, soiled and covered in parasites.
The animals were taken to the Houston Humane Society's Animal Wellness Clinic were they are receiving medical care.
