$1 million awarded to Project GRAD, helping Houston-area students

AT&T is awarding Project GRAD Houston with a two-year, $1,000,000 contribution to continue GRAD’s support of 2,000 Houston-area students enrolled in Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success, Aldine Ninth Grade & Aldine Senior High Schools, and Southwest Charter School.

Houston's Project GRAD has demonstrated success in helping students achieve on-time high school graduation, increased college enrollment, and completion of college certificates and degrees. This exemplary Houston-area program was then selected as one of 10 recipients nationwide to share in $9.25 million of AT&T Aspire’s award.

This award coincides with the official start of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for fall 2019 college-bound students.. FAFSA completion is strongly linked to college enrollment: 90 percent of high school seniors who complete FAFSA attend college directly from high school, but currently only about 60% apply.
