HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The FOX hit show "Empire" has picked up right where it left off last season bringing the glitz, glamour and music of the hip-hop industry to primetime television. The show about Lucious Lyon and his hip-hop juggernaut is a worldwide smash. It has created a buzz in the music and fashion industry in real life with its bold take on American pop culture. Now, a different kind of art is feeling the power of "Empire."
Michael Savoie is a Texas-based artist that has landed some of his most striking paintings on the popular program. "Empire" creator Lee Daniels reached out to Savoie in 2013 and the two formed a relationship that result in his work being featured prominently in the first season. Not only did the producers ask for more art for the season two premiere, they have also indicated an interest for work to be displayed throughout the current run. You can view Michael Savoie’s artwork in person until Oct. 22 at Esperson Gallery at GreenStreet on 1201 Fannin Street Suite 131 in downtown Houston.
