House-made quiche from Henderson & Kane General Store

Pitmaster John Avila, along with his wife Veronica, from El Burro & the Bull at Conservatory Food Hall in downtown Houston, have restored a 1930s general store in the historic Sixth Ward of Houston to serve neighborhood residents.

Henderson & Kane General Store, named for the intersection where it is located, opened on Independence Day 2018 and offers fresh food from Houston-area farmers and artisans. Visitors can look forward to house-smoked meats, smoked salmon, house-cured Charcuterie and more.

During a visit to Henderson & Kane General Store, FOX 26 News segment contributor and food talk radio show host Cleverley Stone learns how to prepare house-made quiche with roasted cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic and goat cheese. The ingredients include locally-sourced Gramen Farms organic eggs.
