FOX 26 Houston weather: Nov. 12 forecast
video

We have great news in your forecast with several days of sunshine, pleasant mornings and very nice days. A front will move through late Wednesday, so there's a slight chance for rain that will be followed by cooler, drier breezes. If you've been craving cold air to get you in the holiday spirit, a stronger cold front is possible by late next week - temps could drop into the 40s and chilly and breezy days, too. In the tropics, we'll very likely end up with another named system in the Caribbean Sea near Central America by this weekend. The next name on the list is Sara which would make the 18th tropical storm to form this season. Of those, so far 11 have become hurricanes and 5 of those major hurricanes. This new storms is likely to bring heavy rain to places like Honduras and Nicaragua, but its future beyond that is uncertain.

We start the week very quiet across southeast Texas. Look for patchy fog again on Tuesday morning but things will clear by lunch with a very comfortable afternoon and mostly clear skies. Houston should reach the mid 80s on Wednesday before a weak November front crawls through. Plan for a couple pleasant mornings after the front with temperatures in the 50s. The weekend will bring back warmer temperatures and increasing humidity.

Moisture creeps back in Saturday night and could lead to some fog or showers early on Sunday morning. It will start sliding to the southwest on Monday avoiding direct impacts on southeast Texas.

FOX 26 Weather Forecast

Beach Hazards statement remains in place along the coast until Sunday morning with the risk for elevated tide levels, more wave action, and a higher risk for rip currents. These are the only impacts we should feel from Hurricane Rafael which is moving west in the central Gulf of Mexico. Cold front will move through Houston by Saturday morning which will keep Rafael away from our area. Rafael should weaken to a tropical storm this weekend and then track into the SW Gulf of Mexico early next week as it falls apart. Cold front will bring an increased risk for showers and storms tonight through Saturday morning. A few storms could be strong but widespread severe weather is not likely. Best risk for winds near 50 mph and hail would be NW around Brenham, College Station & Huntsville. Rain chances will decrease Saturday afternoon and the majority of Sunday should be dry. Another front will bring some showers Wednesday followed by a nice drop in temperatures late next week. Hurricane Rafael: Track, timing and more
video

FOX 26 meteorologist Remeisha Shade looks and the path of Hurricane Rafael. Hurricane Rafael remains a powerful Category 2 Hurricane now in the central Gulf of Mexico. It will continue to drift west then turn more to the south early next week. Drier air wrapping into the system and vertical wind shear will force Rafael to get weaker through the weekend. Rafael should weaken to a tropical storm by Saturday evening and a mere remnant low by Monday and Tuesday. Rafael will stay south of Houston. However, minor impacts will be felt this weekend along the coast in the form of a rip currents risk and some wave action. Another disturbance near Hispaniola has a very low 10% chance for tropical development as it drifts west towards the Bahamas. The next name would be Sara and hurricane season runs through November 30th.
