Harris County is under a severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 a.m. on Monday as strong storms are possible in many areas. It will be muggy in the afternoon with some isolated storms and highs in the mid 90s.

This weekend, we're looking for afternoon high temperatures to range from around 95-100 inland and near 90 along the coast. This heat comes along with heat index (feels like) values as high as 105. The sky will likely appear hazy by sunset Friday and we could get interesting-looking sunrises and sunsets this weekend. At this point, major changes to air quality are not expected, but the combination of ozone and light dust could raise air quality ratings from moderate to "unhealthy for sensitive groups".

Beginning Friday and extending through Sunday or possibly Monday, expect a mixture of hazy skies and very warm afternoons as temps rise into the mid and possibly upper 90s. We'll keep an eye on air quality, but for now just be mindful that dust and light smoke could drop the air quality into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category.

A plume of dust and warmer, drier air in the upper atmosphere is moving across the Caribbean and Gulf and should arrive here either Thursday or Friday. We'll notice a hazy tinge to the sky that will be most noticeable at sunrise and sunset. Also, high temps should rise into the mid or possibly upper 90s.
