Tropical Storm Isaias continues to move up the East Coast but is finally starting to weaken some. More heavy rain and strong winds as it starts moving into Canada. Thankfully things are quiet for now in the Gulf and Caribbean. Around Houston, things are very typical for August. Highs in the afternoon will hover in the mid-90s and we'll see a few late afternoon thunderstorms around Southeast Texas.

August is back in Houston! Look for afternoon high temperatures to run in the mid to the upper 90s this week. There will not be any organized rain just a stray shower or downpour in the afternoon. But you can count on the heat. Be safe outdoors if you are working or playing with feels-like temps over 100 this week. Slightly higher rain chances when we get to the weekend.

Typical August heat will be in place this week with daily highs in the mid 90s, lows in the mid 70s and isolated late afternoon storms. Occasionally, a few of the late day storms could be strong, but the overall coverage should remain limited. Isaias is expected to make landfall in South Carolina tonight as a hurricane.

After a Saturday morning of heavy rain in several parts of the area, our Sunday is starting off slightly cooler and dry! Temps will warm into the mid and upper 90s today with mostly-to-partly sunny skies. A few coastal showers will also be possible, especially near Matagorda and Brazoria counties. Rain chances will remain slim all week as temperatures remain near average.

We are starting off on a rainy note this weekend with areas of heavy rain this morning. Some of the rain should ease into the afternoon, but there is a chance for more redevelopment closer to the coast. Highs will struggle to reach the low 90s with the rain-cooled air today. Sunday is looking like a better day than Saturday, with lower rain chances and slightly warmer.

We're in for another warm day in southeast Texas, but we will be watching a weak cold front that could bring a few storms to the area, especially north of I-10 this afternoon and evening. Highs will still reach the mid-90s today and throughout the weekend, expect similar highs. Saturday will carry a higher chance for rain compared to Sunday, however, those showers and storms will mainly be focused along the coast.
