Biggio, Brett have friendly wager on ALDS

Craig Biggio and George Brett, two Hall of Famers representing each side of this ALDS matchup, have a friendly wager going on the Astros and Royals series.

"We just made a bet today on who's going to win the series," Brett said on Saturday. "I said, 'Okay, let's make a bet. Dinner, Thursday night. My wife, your wife, and the two of us. Whoever wins, the other guy buys dinner.' He said, 'You're on.' So we have a nice little friendly wager about the rest of the series."

Like Biggio, Brett spent his entire big-league career with one team, playing for the Royals from 1973-1993. He was the American League MVP in 1980 and won batting titles in three different decades.

Biggio was inducted this year into Cooperstown after playing with the Astros from 1988-2007. He was the first player ever to finish with at least 3000 hits, 600 doubles, 400 stolen bases, and 250 home runs.

Brett also said on Saturday he believes the best team in the American League comes from this Astros-Royals series.

"I think whoever wins this is going to have a tremendous advantage going the rest of the way because I think these are the two best teams in the American League right now."
