Bevo has life-threatening condition, won't travel to Dallas for Texas-OU

A bad year keeps getting worse for University of Texas football fans.

Live mascot Bevo XIV, the real longhorn who camps out on sidelines during games, is battling a life-threatening condition according to The Longhorn Network.

Because of his health scare, Bevo will not be traveling to Dallas for this weekend’s annual Red River Showdown game between Texas and the University of Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl.

University officials didn’t elaborate on what was wrong with the popular mascot.

Bevo XIV has been serving as the Texas mascot since 2004.
