GALVESTON, Texas - GALVESTON, Texas -- If you don’t look closely, you’ll miss it. Barbers Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock belongs to a tiny 92-year-old Galveston church.
In recent years, the elderly congregation has struggled to maintain the grounds, until a neighbor stumbled across this hidden piece of history. Photojournalist Darlene Janik Faires checked out the efforts.
Volunteers met at Barbers Memorial Cemetery Saturday for their first official cleanup.
Reverend Temple was told to take his place in a lawn chair with a hot dog and cold drink and just watch!
