Texas Department of Criminal Justice says inmate who escaped from East Texas facility in custody

WINNSBORO, Texas - The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says they have found an escaped offender after a search.

Alvin Elliott, 25, was last seen near Country Road 4400 in Winnsboro at around 8:15 a.m. Monday.

Elliott is described as being 6 feet tall, and weighs 277 lbs.

TDCJ says he is a trusty at the Johnston Unit and appeared to have walked off a work assignment outside of the unit.

Authorities say Elliott is a probationer who is assigned to Johnston as a condition of his probation. He was convicted of burglary of a habitation out of Morris County.
