Shia LaBeouf arrested after alleged altercation at Mardi Gras: Reports

Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested after an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, according to multiple reports.

Footage obtained by TMZ showed the aftermath of the incident, with LaBeouf shirtless, standing outside while speaking with several other people. Later on, LaBeouf can be seen sitting in the back of a trunk as EMS personnel appear to tend to him.

LaBeouf, 39, is facing two counts of simple battery and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon, according to People.

He had been in New Orleans partaking in Mardi Gras festivities since Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

LaBeouf’s sobriety and legal troubles

The backstory:

LaBeouf has been open about his journey with sobriety and how alcoholism led him to past bad behavior.

In 2020, artist FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf, saying he sexually assaulted her and inflicted emotional distress. They settled the suit in 2025. LaBeouf denied the allegations.

In 2017, LaBeouf was arrested in Georgia for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
