The trooper identified possible drug activity and had both the female and male get out of the vehicle, so the trooper could perform a pat down. While patting down the male, the Texas DPS trooper felt what he believed to be a pistol.

According to Lt. Cummings, the male began running down Will Clayton Parkway, and at some point turned around and faced the trooper. Authorities reported the trooper fired shots at the male.

Investigators say they recovered a pistol from the scene where the suspect fell to the ground. First aid was performed on the suspect until EMS arrived.
