Police say a man led officers on a wild vehicle chase that ended with that driver's car striking a pole.

The chase began at around 9:30 p.m. Friday after a deputy constable attempted to stop the driver for traffic violations on West 43rd Street near Antoine Drive in northwest Houston.

The driver refused to stop and led the deputy constable on a chase throughout the northwest side of Houston for almost 15 minutes.

Houston police assisted the deputy constable by laying down a spike strip that punctured the left tires of the driver's white four-door car.

Police say the man continued driving on the rims and the car reached speeds as much as 80 mph. The man eventually lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a pole.

Police were able to determine that the man didn't stop for the deputy constable because he had numerous warrants. The man's name was not released.
